Outdoor activities

FFVR signCome visit one of the last wilderness areas in southern Québec! You will discover a rich diversity of ecosystems.
RVLT manages a wonderful network of about 28 km of marked trails for the benefit of hikers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The trails are divided in three sectors: Shepherd’s Dream, Ruiter Brook and Fullerton. We invite you to follow one of our nature interpretation trails such as the Beaver (Fullerton section) or Skunk Trail (Shepherd’s Dream sector).
Our trails also provide a link between the heart of Mansonville, The Green Mountain Nature Reserve and Les Sentiers de l’Estrie.
If you are not familiar with the trails, we suggest you bring along a copy of our trails map.

Trail etiquette

The Ruiter Valley Land Trust offers the visitor a rich and unique experience in all seasons. The wide diversity of fauna, habitat types and flora attracts much interest. In order to maximise the enjoyment and safety for visitors today and in the future we ask that the following rules be abided by.
  1. Take Nothing With You But Your Memories
Removal of any item - plant or animal, living or dead - is strictly forbidden.
  2. Leave Nothing Behind But Your Footsteps
Please take care not to leave any litter or other physical evidence of your visit.
  3. Respect Wildlife and Habitat
    • Because we open our land to the public we have to take extra care to respect the balance between human and wildlife needs. We ask you to stay on the trails so that the life outside them can flourish undisturbed!
    • Do not interfere with the animals or their habitat.
    • From mid-April till the end of June is baby time in the woods. Signs and barriers are posted near vulnerable areas. Please do not enter the nursery areas till July.
  4. Visitors must keep their dog on leash
  5. Respect the Privacy of Landowners
Not all our trails are on Trust land. Staying on the trails is a good way to respect the privacy and generosity of landowners who are allowing us to pass on their land.
  6. In the Winter Time
The use of snowshoes or cross-country skis is compulsory when the trails are covered with snow.
REMINDER to snowshoers using cross-country ski trails: Thank you for walking on each side of the trail so as not to damage the ski tracks.
  7. The lighting of fires is strictly prohibited
  8. Bicycles and Motorized Vehicles are Strictly Prohibited
Only our trail Manager has motorized access.
  9. For Your Own Safety
    • Please keep in mind that our trails are not supervised
    • Take a trail map with you before you leave.
    • Never stray from the footpath.
    • Do not feed any animal, no matter how friendly it seems it is still wild.
    • Do not approach a sick or injured animal, but let us know about it at info@apcor.ca
    • Make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
    • Bring plenty of water.
Enjoy your outing! We invite you to report animal sightings and/or submit your comments and/or suggestions at info@valleeruiter.org.
